Why does my heat pump work in one mode but not the other?
Heating and cooling share much of the system but do not use every control and operating function in exactly the same way. Mode-specific symptoms help narrow the thermostat, switching, equipment, or refrigerant-related checks.
Is ice on a heat pump always a problem?
A heat pump can encounter frost during heating operation and is designed to manage normal conditions, but persistent heavy ice, ice that does not clear, or loss of heating deserves evaluation. Do not remove ice with tools.
